For sale is a Vintage 24-inch Quaker State Motor Oil Button Sign in excellent condition (repainted / restored likely in the 1960s or early 1970s, see below) featuring the classic green and white design that captures the golden era of American petroliana. This eye-catching round sign promotes "ASK FOR QUAKER STATE MOTOR OIL" with bold white lettering on a glossy green background, complete with the trademark registration notice and the maker's mark "Quaker State Oil Refining Corp. Made in U.S.A." and "Grace Comm., Inc. St. Louis MO. 11.0" along the bottom rim. Measuring about 24 inches in diameter, it's a convex "button-style" painted metal piece designed for gas stations and auto shops, with mounting holes for easy display. Originally likely produced in the 1950s during Quaker State's heyday—when the brand, born from Pennsylvania crude oil refineries, is a rare find for collectors of mid-century advertising memorabilia. The near-pristine paint and embossed shape make it perfect for garage walls, restaurants, man caves, or other vintage displays.
CONDITION DETAILS: This sign is in excellent vintage condition with vibrant, near perfect gloss paint on the front with only some very minor rust and signs of prior mounting in one or two of the screw holes. No significant rust, chips or fading on the front, and only minor scratches and mars from manufacturing and handling. The sign was apparently repainted at some point, presumably by Grace Comm. There are signs of the original paint being partially removed and overpainted, and there are stray paint marks on the back. It appears the sign has not been mounted since the repainting (again likely in the 1960s-70s). See photos for the exact condition. Do your own research and ask any questions prior to purchase. No returns on vintage items.
12/21/25: Comment received from an eBay user - "Your sign has not been repainted the way the surface of the sign looks is normal for that sign I have seen several and own three of them it’s original. That sign is from the early Fifties."
